Live Capture

Record any browser tab and turn it into a scroll-ready video

Some things can't be captured from a URL alone — a logged-in dashboard, a live demo, a multi-step flow. Record a Tab captures exactly what's on screen, in your own browser, then converts it into MP4, GIF, WebM, MOV, or WebP automatically.

The old way
  • A separate screen-recorder app just to capture one dashboard
  • URL capture can't log in, click through a flow, or wait for live data
  • Raw screen recordings need a separate editor pass before they're shareable
With Scrollify
  • One click, right from the export tool — no extra software
  • Record anything you can see and click — logins, live data, multi-step flows
  • Export-ready MP4, GIF, WebM, MOV, or WebP the moment you stop recording

Why record instead of capture a URL

Scrollify's main tool turns a public URL into a scroll video automatically — no login, no interaction required. That's the right tool for a marketing page or a landing page. But some things aren't reachable by URL at all: a dashboard behind a login wall, a SaaS product mid-onboarding, a support ticket queue, a live chart that only updates in real time, or a multi-step signup flow you need to actually click through. Record a Tab hands you the browser's own tab picker, records exactly what happens on screen while you drive it, and converts the result into the same export formats as every other Scrollify job — so it lands in your library and counts against the same monthly quota, not a separate one-off download.

Where this fits

  • Product demos & walkthroughs

Record a real click-through of your app for a sales deck, onboarding email, or changelog post.

  • Bug reports & QA evidence

Show a bug happening live, in context, instead of describing it in a ticket with three static screenshots.

  • Dashboards & internal tools

Capture a logged-in dashboard or admin panel Scrollify's URL capture could never reach.

  • Tutorials & how-to clips

Turn a multi-step process into a short scroll-ready clip for docs, support macros, or a help center article.

How it works

  1. 1

    Click Record a Tab

Pick your output formats, then click Record a Tab and confirm in the dialog that follows.

  2. 2

    Pick a tab & record

Your browser's own share picker lets you choose exactly which tab to capture — you stay in control the whole time.

  3. 3

    Stop & get your export

Hit stop and Scrollify brings you right back to the app to watch the conversion — no hunting for a downloaded file.

FAQ

Which browsers support this?
Any browser that supports the standard tab-capture picker (Chrome, Edge, and most Chromium-based browsers). It uses your browser's own native screen/tab-sharing dialog, so Scrollify never has access to a tab you don't explicitly choose to share.
Can I record audio too?
Yes — if the browser's share dialog offers a "share tab audio" option, checking it includes audio in the recording.
What formats do I get?
MP4, GIF, WebM, MOV, or WebP — pick one or several before you start recording (multi-format export is a paid-plan feature). Free plan exports include the Scrollify watermark, same as every other export.
Does this count against my export quota?
Yes — a tab recording is a normal job like any other Scrollify export and lands in your library the same way, counted against your regular monthly plan limit.
Do I need an account?
Yes — Record a Tab requires a free account (unlike the main URL tool's watermarked guest demo), since it uploads and encodes your recording server-side.
